Kericho rolls out development projects

Kericho County has taken a major leap in enhancing public service delivery with the commissioning of the modern Kipsitet Mother and Child Unit in Soin Sub County, a state-of-the-art facility equipped to provide comprehensive maternal and child healthcare.

The facility brings vital services closer to residents and address long-standing gaps in access to quality healthcare.

The Sh197 million facility is fully equipped, featuring two consultation rooms, two pharmaceutical dispensing units, an outpatient department, and a modern Mother and Child Health wing that offers comprehensive maternity, nutrition, antenatal, postnatal, and family planning services, ensuring that residents have access to essential healthcare under one roof.

Speaking during the commissioning, Kericho Governor Dr. Eric Mutai highlighted the facility as a critical investment in maternal and child health, emphasizing that it will improve access to essential services, bring healthcare closer to communities. The Governor said the facility will help reduce maternal and infant complications. He was accompanied by Soin Ward MCA Dr. Naaman Rop during the event.

“This facility will bring quality, affordable healthcare closer to our mothers and children, improving access to essential maternal and child services and helping reduce maternal and infant complications,” Mutai said.

During his development tour to various wards within the county from Tuesday to Thursday this week, Dr. Mutai also commissioned Phase One of the newly installed cabro works at Litein Town’s Central Business District and officially launched Phase Two of the project, marking a significant step towards creating a more organized, accessible, and business-friendly urban environment.

The governor noted that the successful completion of Phase One had modernized and beautified Litein Town, eased movement, improved business operations, and created an orderly and attractive urban environment for traders and residents, with Phase Two set to extend these upgrades across additional streets and commercial corridors.

And in Soin Ward, the Governor commissioned the Ndonyomare Solarized Borehole Water Project, a sustainable initiative set to deliver clean and reliable water to over 150 households across Ndonyomare, Chebirir, Kipkuror A, and Kipkuror B villages, significantly improving access to safe drinking water for local families.

In the meantime, the Governor also commissioned the Jagoror Water Supply System in Londiani Ward, initiated following his 2024 visit to Jagoror Village, which will provide water to over 200 households and key public institutions across Kapgwen, Jagoror Centre, Ainamoi, Quarry, Kabarak, and Cypress villages, strengthening essential services and enhancing the wellbeing and resilience of local communities.

With the commissioning of these projects, Kericho County is set to offer residents enhanced access to essential services, a more organized and vibrant urban environment, and stronger support for public institutions, signaling a significant step forward in the county’s sustained development and community empowerment.
