Korea missionaries drill water to benefit over 1, 000 residents in Narok

Over 1, 000 residents living at Korea village in Narok Central sub county have a reason to smile after a group of Koreans missionaries drilled a borehole to benefit the community.

Previously, the residents had to walk for several kilometers to get the precious commodities, while others had to dig deep in their pockets to get water.

The Koreans missionaries have also established a radio station dubbed ‘Hosanna Radio Services’ that mainly spreads the Gospel of Jesus Christ and also built a school and a clinic in the area.

Peter Kang, the programme director said their aim was to spread the gospel and support the community to access basic commodities like water, health and education.

Director Kang underscored the benefits of the borehole saying it stands as a testimony to the united efforts of churches in Korea and the United States of America, along with the participation of local believers.

“We are Koreans missionaries from South Korea and America. We have come together to ensure the success of these projects. We have been praying for them for 20 years now. Today we are celebrating faith, perseverance and global Christian partnership,” Kang noted.

The first Kenyan Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Ambassador Ngovi Kitau thanked the Korean missionaries for investing their time, energy and financial resources to benefit the community, observing the initiative by the Korean missionaries has enhanced Kenya-Korea people-to-people relations.

“About 30 years ago, missionary Kim Chan- Kyong started holding worship services under a tree in this area. Through the support of Korean supporters, he built a school and a clinic. In gratitude for his love and dedication to the local community, the Maa community decided to name this area “Korea Village,’ he noted.

Ambassador Kitau observed that Koreans have been flocking the country as missionaries and tourists because of the good relationship between the two countries.

The residents who spoke to the members of the press praised the Korean missionaries for bringing hope in the area by ensuring that the surrounding community access education easily and have access to clean water.
