KWS warns jobseekers against online recruitment scams

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has flagged a fake online recruitment portal that had been doing the rounds on social media purporting to be recruiting new rangers.

The online portal (which has since been pulled down), complete with the KWS signature logo, had invited qualified Kenyans from all walks of life to apply for the various positions.

Applicants were required to log in their details in the online platform and submit the information to be considered for the positions.

One was also given the option of sharing the link with others who could be interested in the employment opportunities listed under the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) 2025 Recruitment.

“The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has opened its online application portal to recruit new rangers to fill in various open positions; recruitment is ongoing. Click the link below to apply,” read the advert in part.

While cautioning Kenyans against falling prey to fake adverts, KWS has distanced itself from the link, saying it was a fraud.

It has further warned Kenyans to be vigilant about such online portals and take time to verify their authenticity to avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

“Kenya Wildlife Service has become aware of fraudulent recruitment advertisements and fake online portals circulating on social media, falsely claiming affiliation with KWS. We urge the public to be vigilant – KWS does not conduct recruitment through unofficial platforms or unauthorised websites. These are scams designed to mislead and exploit,” read a statement by KWS on its official X handle.

“For accurate information, always verify recruitment details through our official channels, including the KWS website and verified social media pages.”

Netizens took to social media immediately after KWS flagged down the advert as fake.

“Since I was conned by KWS cadets some few years ago, I have never recovered. Watch out!” posted by Abdi Rashid.

Dennis Nabum, however, went further by calling upon Kenyans to be cautious before going for online job application portals.

“Kindly make sure you have a blue tick on your social media account,” he stated.

Others, like Honourable Vincent Kilonzo, were more forthright in their response to Kenyans on the need to be cautious. “You should verify your social media handles.”
