Late goal sinks Murang’a seal in FKF premier league opener

Murang’a Seal kicked off their 2025/26 FKF Premier League campaign on a disappointing note after falling 1–0 to Ulinzi Stars at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a on Sunday.

The hosts looked solid for most of the contest, with debutant goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor pulling off a series of crucial saves to deny the visitors and keep Seal in the game.

Forwards Joe Waithera and Michael Macharia were particularly lively in the first half, while Mark Mwaniki and Victor Haki piled on the pressure after the break, but the breakthrough remained out of reach.

Just as the match appeared headed for a stalemate, Ulinzi Stars’ striker Paul Okoth scored the winning goal in the 90th minute from a corner kick, breaking Seal’s resistance and securing all three points for Ulinzi.

The match brought together hundreds of fans who filled the newly modernised SportPesa Arena, turning up in large numbers to cheer their home side.

Despite the setback, Seal fans were encouraged by the team’s spirited display and will now turn focus to their next assignment against APS Bomet FC away next weekend as they chase their first win of the season.
