Leaders from across the country gathered in Ol-Kalou, Nyandarua County, to mourn the late Ol-Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away last week after a long illness. The leaders joined family, friends, and residents at his rural home in Gachwe Village for an interdenominational prayer service held in his honour.
The delegation was led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Rebecca Miano, alongside several Members of Parliament allied to the government. Speakers at the event described the late Kiaraho as a dedicated and astute leader who served his constituents with commitment and integrity.
Kiaraho is scheduled to be laid to rest on Friday, April 10, at his farm in the Tigoni area of Kiambu County.
During the service, Deputy President Kindiki called on leaders to embrace issue-based politics and prioritise service delivery to citizens. He noted that as the country prepares for next year’s general elections, there is a need for constructive engagement that addresses the real challenges facing Kenyans.
His sentiments were echoed by Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano and Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau, who urged Kenyans to reject leaders who promote negativity. They emphasised that voters hold the ultimate power to determine leadership through the ballot.
The leaders collectively called for a new political culture grounded in accountability, development, and competition of ideas.
