Limuru NG-CDF disburses Sh14.9 million of student bursaries.

The final phase of the Universities, Colleges, and Vocational Institutes Bursary Issuance for the Limuru National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) 2024/2025 Financial Year concluded with the disbursement of Sh14,938,000.

The issuance of the bursaries to various recipients was held today at Limuru Technical and Vocational College in Kamandura, Limuru Central Ward.

Limuru Technical and Vocational College, with over 700 students, received Sh1,556,000 from the total allocation, reflecting the institution’s tremendous growth with majority of beneficiaries being students from the constituency.

Kamirithu Polytechnic also benefited from the bursary program, receiving Sh668,000 to support students pursuing technical and vocational education at the institution.

Limuru Member of Parliament John Kiragu, who graced the disbursement ceremony, encouraged more young people to enroll in technical colleges to acquire vital skills in preparation for future careers.

“We continue to encourage more young people to enroll in this college and take advantage of the technical and specialized skills it offers in order to become self-reliant in the near future. My administration remains committed to supporting technical education, knowing that empowered youth are the foundation of a prosperous Limuru and the nation at large,” he said.

Parents and Students Present at the Ceremony

The MP wished all the beneficiaries success in their studies and assured them of significant infrastructural development in all the institutions.

“I promise to build a 500-student hostel at Limuru Technical and Vocational College to make it a complete school that can accommodate more students and provide quality learning environment,” he pledged.

Sarah Njoki, a parent whose daughter received a bursary to pursue a diploma in hospitality management, expressed gratitude for the government support.

“This bursary has lifted a huge burden from our family. Without this support, my daughter would not have been able to continue with her studies. We are grateful to the MP and the NG-CDF for making education accessible to our children,” she said.

Peter Kamau, a second-year student pursuing electrical installation at Limuru Technical College, appreciated the financial assistance that enabled him to focus on his studies.

“This bursary has allowed me to concentrate on my studies without worrying about school fees. I am now confident that I will complete my course and get the skills needed to start my own electrical business,” he said.

The bursary disbursement ceremony was attended by Hon. Pacifica Ongecha (Nominated MCA) and Rev. Silas Nerbat Babu (Joshua Matenjwa Parish Minister), who witnessed the distribution of funds to deserving students.

The NG-CDF bursary program demonstrates the government’s commitment to making technical and vocational education accessible to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder young people from acquiring practical skills needed for employment and entrepreneurship.

The focus on technical and vocational training aligns with the government’s strategy to develop a skilled workforce that can drive economic growth and reduce youth unemployment through practical skills acquisition.
