Lugari MP fetes constituency’s top KCSE girl

Lugari lawmaker Nabii Nabwera has feted the constituency’s top 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate, Dianah Nanjalah, with a thanks giving luncheon to celebrate her remarkable achievement.

Nanjalah, who sat for her KCSE examination at Manyonyi Girls Secondary School, made history in the recently released results, by scoring a mean grade of A plain with 83 points, to emerge the best in the constituency and break its decade long wait for the elusive grade.

Speaking during the thanks giving ceremony at the school Tuesday, Nabwera pledged to invest more resources to the constituency’s education sector, besides supporting more vulnerable and bright students to achieve their academic dreams.

He lauded education stakeholders in the constituency for immensely supporting his education agenda of reversing the poor academic standards as evidenced in the number of students now gaining direct entry into the university.

The MP commended Nanjalah for breaking the A plain grade dry spell despite schooling in a little-known secondary school. “Today I am very happy. Dianah made a promise to me and she met the promise. Diana’s teachers agreed with me on a plan and they met their plan. Dianah has broken the jinx of the constituency and she is now a special child and record breaker,” he stated.

He reminded the form three and four students that they hold their own results. He said: “I am talking to form three and form students. The principle for any student is to sleep less and work more. Results are made. You work and labour for them. You sacrifice and go for them.

“Results are intentional and not accidental. Results are purposeful. Hence, the student must be purposeful; the parent must be purposeful, the teacher must be purposeful and as a leader I must also be purposeful,” he emphasized.

The Member of Parliament (MP) appealed to teachers to always strive to identify the areas the learners are encountering difficulties in order to assist and enable them excel.

“I want you teachers to implement just one simple tool. The schools that implemented it scored highly. Just plot the performance graph of each of your student and it will tell you the areas of difficulty. That is exactly what we did with Dianah and now the rest is history,” he said.

Manyonyi Girls Secondary School Principal Janet Sidera challenged the school’s form three and four class to strive to maintain the A record that has been set.

She attributed the school’s improved performance to the support from the MP and the high level of cooperation among the Board of Management, parents, teachers, students and the local community.

Nanjalah who aspires to be a medical doctor also thanked the MP for the support including organizing academic villages to sharpen their performance. She disclosed that the support and encouragement from her parents and teachers made her to excel.
