Voting process commences well across the polling centres

Polling in Isiolo started well across the designated centres in the county with some politicians contesting for various positions casting their votes early enough.

Long queues of voters are witnessed in all the centres around Isiolo town as some voters were stranded before they could identify the streams they were supposed to vote from in stations that have multiple streams.

However, voting started at 6.00 am in the voting centres that we visited and no incidences were observed.

Gubernatorial candidate on Jubilee Party Abdi Ibrahim Guyo aka Kayole and former Chief Administrative Secretary for education who is vying for the Woman Rep’s position Ms Mumina Bonaya cast their votes at Wabera Primary School.

The voting process at Wabera, Waso, Mwangaza, Kizito, Ramadhan primary schools and Isiolo Boys Secondary was calm with the IEBC officials, Party agents and the security personnel keenly watching over the progression.

According to the IEBC’s Isiolo County Returning officer Mr. Samuel Sekii, there are 219 polling centres and 89,504 people are expected to vote.

Isiolo constitutes two constituencies of North Constituency which has 67,323 voters while Isiolo South has 22,181.

The other two gubernatorial candidates Godana Doyo (Independent Candidate) and Halake Wako (ODM) cast their votes at St. Kizito Primary School and Acacia Playground respectively at 9.00 am.

In Migori County, voting exercise picked up on a high note as voters were on the queue as early as 3AM to cast their votes.

The majority decried long hours on the queue.
