Machakos launches digitisation of performance contracting to boost efficiency.

Machakos County has launched the digitisation of performance contracting in a move aimed at automating the evaluation of performance targets to promote efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti, speaking at her office on Wednesday during the release of the annual departmental performance report, emphasised that the digital system would make performance contracting more transparent, accessible, and data-driven.

She directed all county departments to adopt the new platform, noting that it enhances accountability in contracting and appraisals by demonstrating their commitment to service delivery.

“A digital platform allows real-time tracking, minimises manipulation, and gives citizens and oversight bodies a clear window into our work. It makes Machakos a model of excellence in public service,” Governor Ndeti stated.

The Governor commended the Department of Agriculture, Food Security, Cooperatives, and Livestock Development for emerging as the best-performing department in the 2024–2025 financial year. She urged the team to sustain their momentum and continue setting the pace for others.

They were closely followed by the Department of Finance, Revenue, Economic Planning, and ICT, as well as the Department of Lands, Urban Planning, and Energy. These departments were awarded trophies and certificates for exemplary performance.

Governor Ndeti further challenged underperforming departments to improve, reminding them that Machakos residents deserve a county that works efficiently and delivers results.

“We are just custodians, not owners of resources, and we must steward what has been entrusted to us with integrity and tangible results,” she said.
