Tension gripped Shauri Yako polling station in Homa Bay Town this evening after a middle aged man strolled within the centre with a sharp panga and a torch.
The man was however noticed by a hawk eyed GSU officer who immediately pinned him down and recovered the weapons. The security officers then arrested the man and booked him at Homa Bay police station for further investigations.
The incident occurred at around 5:20 as IEBC officials were readying to close the daylong voting exercise.
After the incident, members of the public who were idling around were forced to vacate the premises that was subsequently strictly guarded.
