Mandera County joined the rest of the world in marking the International Day for Mothers with a heartwarming celebration at the Mandera County Referral Hospital.
The event, organized by the County Government’s Ministry of Social Development under the Department of Women Empowerment and Affirmative Action, honoured mothers by gifting essential items to newborn babies and their mothers at the hospital’s maternity wing.
The symbolic gesture was aimed at recognizing the strength, resilience, and unwavering love that mothers contribute to their families and communities.
It also served as a strong message of appreciation from both the county leadership and the broader society.
Speaking at the event, Chief Officer for Women Empowerment, Farhiya Ali, reaffirmed the county’s commitment to uplifting women.
Mandera County will continue to stand by every woman and ensure they prosper. We also urge men to be respectful to mothers—they are the beacons of change in our society
Women leaders present echoed the sentiment, assuring mothers of continued support and participation in the county’s development.
They emphasized the vital role mothers play in maintaining peace and unity within the community, describing them as pillars of harmony and caretakers of future generations.
The mothers also strongly condemned the brutal and senseless killings of two mothers in Banissa Sub-County, calling on the government to swiftly apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.
They further emphasized that any form of abuse or violence against women is unacceptable and called for respect, dignity, and equal treatment for all.
The celebrations not only acknowledged the invaluable role of mothers but also highlighted the county’s focus on inclusive growth, gender respect, and community cohesion.
