Mbale high school posts improved KCSE results

Mbale Boys High School has recorded an improved performance in the 2025 KCSE provisional results, defying major challenges that disrupted learning earlier in the year.

The school experienced turbulent times last year, including a month-long closure in July following a destructive strike.

However, despite the setback, the candidates demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination, emerging with impressive academic results.

According to results released by the school administration, 422 candidates sat for the 2025 KCSE examination. The school posted a mean score of 7.3483, translating to a mean grade of C+, an improvement from the 2024 mean score of 6.3658 (Grade C), representing a positive deviation of +0.9825.

The results show strong performance across the upper grades, with 26 students scoring B+, 71 attaining B, and 98 earning B- grades. In addition, 294 candidates qualified for direct university entry, accounting for 70 per cent of the candidature.

The achievement sparked celebrations across Mbale town, with students seen inside the school bus cheering along the streets in high spirits, singing and celebrating the results, an expression of relief and pride after a challenging academic year.

School administrators attributed the success to resilience and discipline among the students, commitment by teachers and the steady leadership of the current principal, Manasseh Kagasi, who steered the school through the previous disruption and ensured academic recovery.

Parents and education stakeholders have welcomed the outcome, describing it as proof that determination, teamwork and focused leadership can turn adversity into success, while reaffirming Mbale Boys High School’s rising academic profile.
