Migori County Green Stadium will soon acquire the Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards after the pitch was officially handed over to Sports Kenya for construction.
The 8.7-acre stadium located in Migori town, once completed, will be one of the modern sports facilities in the South Nyanza region after Sports Kenya, in collaboration with both levels of government, embarked on a journey to transform the Migori arena.
The 10,000-seater capacity stadium will also include a modern running track, a CAF-standard pitch, changing rooms, gym, a modern pavilion and other state-of-the-art amenities.

The stadium will be suitable for hosting national sporting events and large community gatherings, as well as a home ground pitch for Migori Youth FC that plays in the National Super League (NSL).
According to Migori Deputy Governor Joseph Mahiri, who handed over the stadium, he assured the contractor that the county administration will give the necessary support to the team to help deliver the project in good time.
Mahiri also guaranteed Sports Kenya that they will take good care of the facility once completed to help give youths a platform to showcase their talent.
The stadium had initially been proposed to be completed in a year, but Mahiri was optimistic that there was a possibility of the project being completed before the year ends, for the residents to enjoy the full value of the investment made by the government.
