Missing Naivasha medic found murdered and buried in a shallow grave in her home

A clinical officer from Naivasha Sub-County Hospital who had been missing since Friday last week was on Thursday found murdered and buried in a shallow grave within her compound in Raini Village, Naivasha.

The body of Jane Wambui Njoroge, a pediatric clinical officer, was discovered by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following the arrest of a house-help who allegedly led them to the burial site during interrogation.

Naivasha OCPD Antony Keter confirmed the arrest, identifying the suspect as a former tenant-turned-house-help who had previously been supported by the family.

Keter said the house help is being treated as the main suspect, with investigations ongoing to determine if others were involved in the heinous act that has left neighbours speechless.

OCPD said so far, preliminary findings suggest Wambui may have been killed using a blunt object, noting that further investigations will unravel the exact motive of the beastly act.

Wambui was last seen on Friday at her workplace and was expected to host fellow women at their usual fundraising groups before her strict Sunday service at a local church, both of which she failed to turn up, prompting questions on her whereabouts.

Her husband, John Kimani, who works in Kitale, raised the alarm after failing to reach her over the weekend on phone with her neighbours and church goers reporting her missing.

“I allowed neighbours to break into the house after I couldn’t get through to her. It was empty. Later, I was shocked to learn our long-time house-help had been arrested,” he said.

Kimani also revealed that Wambui had been battling cancer, and her sudden disappearance deeply troubled the family.

“The suspect was once my tenant but we offered her support when she couldn’t afford rent and I am still in shock imagining that she could be behind this,” he added.

Emotions ran high during the exhumation, which drew neighbours and church members to the scene, eager to understand the unfortunate news that had hit their quiet and chilly village.

Reverend Nancy Wanjiku of the PCEA Church, where Wambui was an active member, expressed sorrow over her demise, noting that it was rather unusual when she failed to attend church service.

“She failed to attend church on Sunday, which was unlike her and a thorough search by members of the community kicked off in partnership with security agencies, but unfortunately, the journey ended tragically,” said Wanjiku

Police have launched a manhunt for other possible accomplices, as the investigation into the murder continues.
