Motorcycle rider perishes in Narok accident

A motorbike rider died on the spot while  his pillion passenger was seriously injured after they were involved in an accident at Olonini area along the Narok-Bomet highway today.

According to Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare, the rider attempted to join the highway from a feeder road when a matatu vehicle belonging to Members Sacco knocked the motorbike he was riding on.

The pillion passenger aged 17 years old was rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

“The rider of the motorcycle joined the highway from a feeder road and was hit by the motor vehicle as one faces the direction of Narok town. The eleven (11) passengers in the matatu vehicle escaped unhurt,” he said.

Both the motorbike and the matatu vehicle were towed to the Narok town police station awaiting inspection as the body of the deceased was moved to Narok County Referral Hospital morgue.

The accident happened a few days after two people perished in Osentu area along the same road in an accident.

The county police commander has called on motorists to be careful while plying along the highway to avoid causing accidents.
