Schools in Narok West Sub County have benefited from twenty (20) mobile digital laboratories that were purchased by the government through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
While commissioning the equipment for use, the area Member of Parliament Gabriel Tongoyo, underscored the importance of equipping the Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners with the crucial digital skills.
“The Mobile laboratories are essential in the teaching and learning of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. They serve as hubs of discovery, experimentation and innovation which are key pillars in the competency-Based Curriculum (CBC),” noted the MP.
Among the schools that benefited are: Oldany, Ngiito, Olchoro, Kuto, Koitamugul, Kipsongol, Agaanga, Oltepesi, and Kiptendet primary schools.
The MP also commissioned four classrooms at Keneti primary school and two classrooms at Oldany Primary School that were built and equipped by the NG-CDF.
Also launched for construction is Mulot ICT hub that is expected to boost digital literacy and foster innovation, as it will provide essential digital skills vital in the modern job market.
Tongoyo, who is also the Chairman of the Security Committee in the National Assembly stated that the hub will foster government services as the residents will easily access online government services at no cost.
“The ICT hub will foster economic growth by providing computers, internet and training to empower the community and especially the youth to participate in the digital economy and improve their lives,” said the MP.
Parents who spoke in the events lauded the MP for prioritising education saying the mobile equipment given and the construction of the new classrooms will boost education standard in the area.
