St John’s Kibongwa Senior School in Chemilil/Chemase Ward, Tinderet Sub County, has continued to register steady academic growth after its second Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE class of 2025) cohort posted impressive results, with eight students attaining the grades required for university admission.
The achievement, an improvement from the three of the previous year, has been widely celebrated as a major milestone for the institution, which is still in its formative years but is already showing signs of becoming a center of academic excellence within the region. Education stakeholders and local residents have described the performance as a clear indication that the school is on an upward trajectory.
The celebrations were held on Tuesday at the school compound, drawing a large gathering of parents, teachers, Board of Management officials, and community members. The event was graced by Tinderet Member of Parliament Julius Melly, who joined the school fraternity in marking the success.
In his address, the legislator commended the school for its notable improvement, pointing out that the results reflected discipline, commitment, and teamwork among all stakeholders. He noted that the progress demonstrated what could be achieved when schools are supported through coordinated efforts.
Melly reaffirmed his dedication to improving learning conditions across the constituency through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). He indicated that his office would continue prioritizing the construction and expansion of classrooms, laboratories, and other essential facilities to ensure students learn in a conducive environment.
He added that collaboration between leaders, school administrations, and the local community would remain central to raising education standards. The MP observed that sustained engagement with stakeholders has already begun to bear fruit, as seen in the improved performance of schools such as St John’s Kibongwa.
School administrators expressed pride in the candidates’ achievement, describing it as a breakthrough that has strengthened the institution’s academic reputation. They noted that the success of the eight students who qualified for university has motivated both current learners and teaching staff to aim even higher in future examinations.
Teachers at the school attributed the improved performance to enhanced academic programs, closer monitoring of student progress, and support from parents and education partners. They emphasized the need to maintain consistency and build on the current momentum.
Parents and local residents also welcomed the results, saying they have renewed confidence in the school’s ability to provide quality education.
