Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on Kenyans to uphold peace, terming it the cornerstone of the country’s economic transformation and sustainable development.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Embulbul in Kajiado County, Mudavadi emphasized that peace carries greater economic value than infrastructure and other development initiatives.
“Without peace, there would be no roads, education, agriculture and everything else that we need. The economic value of peace is bigger than anything else,” he said.
Mudavadi noted that lasting peace can only be achieved through adherence to democratic principles, justice and national unity. He urged Kenyans to embrace inclusivity and work together to safeguard stability in the country.
“We attain peace by being democratic, by making sure there is justice and by working together as a united nation,” he added.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary cautioned leaders and citizens against divisive politics, warning that such tendencies could undermine national cohesion and derail development efforts. He urged Kenyans to remain united and focused on shared goals for the country’s progress.
Mudavadi further stressed that Kenya has long enjoyed a peaceful environment and called on all stakeholders to protect it, noting that any disruption could negatively impact economic growth and social stability.
He also appealed to politicians preparing for the 2027 General Election to conduct issue-based campaigns and maintain peaceful engagement throughout the electoral period. According to him, responsible leadership and mature political discourse are essential for preserving harmony in the country.
At the same time, Mudavadi highlighted ongoing government development projects in Kajiado County and urged residents to support President William Ruto’s administration, describing it as committed to inclusive growth and national transformation.
“If we want to change Kenya, we should not gamble with leadership and stability. We need continuity to complete the projects that have already been started,” he said.
The event, hosted by Oloolua MCA Elly Gor, was attended by several leaders, including Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, Irrigation Principal Secretary Ephantus Kimotho, Kajiado Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho, Kajiado Woman Representative Leah Sankaire and Members of the County Assembly.
