In a bold call for constitutional reform, Musalia Mudavadi has asserted that 15 years after its promulgation, Kenya urgently needs a review of its constitution to ensure a more inclusive and unified government.
The former Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of formalizing the Office of the Prime Minister and the leader of the official opposition to represent every region in the governance structure.
“There is an imperative need for a constitutional review 15 years after its promulgation. For a unified face of Kenya in government, we must formalize the Office of the Prime Minister and the leader of the official opposition. This will ensure every region sees its face in government,” Mudavadi stated, highlighting the importance of representation from all corners of the nation.
Moreover, Mudavadi called on citizens to take an active role in shaping the future of the country by registering as voters and preparing for the upcoming election in 2027.
In a direct message to the residents of Vihiga, he urged them to prioritize voter registration, stating, “You Vihiga people are leading from behind in terms of voter registration. You cannot desire to elect good leaders when you don’t have voters’ cards,” said Mudavadi.
The Prime Cabinet Minister’s message resonated with many as he underscored the significance of civic participation and emphasized the role of a mobilized and informed electorate in choosing competent leaders for the nation as the political landscape continues to evolve.
Mudavadi’s call for constitutional reform and voter empowerment serves as a rallying cry for a more inclusive and accountable governance system in Kenya.
