While noting that the targeted projects aim to boost the economy and improve lives of locals, Ms Kihika pledged that her government will not waver from its goals to have the right infrastructure in place now and in the future.
Speaking when she chaired a Cabinet meeting aimed at giving fresh impetus and direction to service delivery in Nakuru, the Governor voiced her commitment to improving connectivity and transport links, as well as ensuring effective environmental protection.
“We are committed, through budgetary allocations and prudent planning, to improve delivery of government services and completion of development projects for the benefit of the residents of Nakuru County,” she pledged.
She acknowledged the importance of involving local communities in the planning and implementation of projects to ensure that they are aware of the benefits and progress and that her leadership was incorporating environmental considerations into project planning to ensure that projects are sustainable and do not negatively impact the environment.
While saying that Projects had specified timelines and also budgetary provisions, the governor assured that her government was committed to addressing emerging challenges by reaching out to relevant agencies with a view to ensuring the projects are completed on time.
She explained that they had joined all stakeholders to move the county forward by ensuring that they delivered the development agenda and improved the lives of all residents.
“Our focus is on improving vital sectors of the economy that directly impact millions of Kenyans,” she assured.
During the meeting, a development-oriented budget for the Financial Year 2025/26 was approved.
According to the Governor, the budget includes provisions for prudent planning and allocation of resources to support development efforts, focusing on completing ongoing projects and improving the delivery of government services.
She said prudent planning was crucial for improving service delivery by ensuring efficient resource allocation and transparent governance.
This approach, she added, helps to address issues like corruption and wastage, ultimately leading to more effective and citizen-centric service provision.
The governor assured that her government will oversee the progress of roads, markets, and electricity projects to guarantee faster delivery so that the residents benefit from the service delivery.
