Nandi Hills MP Disburses Bursary Worth Sh 60 Million

Nandi Hills Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Benard Kitur, has disbursed bursary cheques worth Sh 60 million to needy students learning in various secondary and tertiary institutions in the area.

Kitur, who underscored the importance of education, noted that education is the key social mobility equalizer between the poor and the rich.

During the occasion, the legislator emphasized that his love for education necessitates allocation of a lion’s share of the National Government Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF) to the education sector.

Speaking after launching the bursary the legislator divulged that his office is committed to ensuring all students regardless of their background are supported to pursue their education with minimum fee challenges so as to excel in education to make their future bright.

“The Sh60 million bursary I have disbursed today is a maximum. My wish is to ensure every student gets an opportunity to study. I am standing before you today because of education,” revealed MP Kitur.

Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai on his part called on students to take advantage of the bursary and work harder to ensure they excel in their academics observing that NG-CDF is one of the government’s investments in education that aims at ensuring the youth get early preparation for national development in the near future.

Kipsanai advised students to uphold high personal discipline as well as to respect their teachers noting that these virtues attract success in academics and in future careers.

“Do not take the launch of this bursary for granted. As students, put your education first. Do not disobey your teachers; your teachers are your parent and they mean good for you,” advised Kipsanai urging the students to utilize the NG-CDF positively and lay a strong foundation to become future leaders.

On his part Kitutu Chache North MP Japhet Nyakundi echoed the sentiments revealing that NG-CDF is fund meant for the constituency residents’ betterment especially the education sector.

“The NG-CDF is a fund for the residents. We are here today to launch this bursary for our students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions,” he observed.

Residents on their part called on the legislators to in future include junior school learners in the NG-CDF bursary regretting that a number of junior school learners had dropped out of school due to lack of school fees.

According to Nandi Hills Constituency office subcommittee chair Edna Cherubet all students in Form Three and Four in day schools will receive the bursary while those in Form Two and those in boarding schools will only have 15 students per sub-location funded with a flat rate of sh5000 per student.
