Nthukula ABC secondary school in Makueni Sub county has been closed indefinitely after the students staged a walk out, demanding for immediate transfer of their principal Josephine Wavinya, whom they accused of high handedness.
The students were later intercepted at Kiatini area, while on their way to the Makueni county Director of Education office in Wote town.
They were addressed by officials from the County Director’s office jointly with the police at the road side, about five kilometres to their intended destination.
However, when the meeting failed to yield results, the students were ordered to go back to the institution, collect their belongings and leave the school compound immediately.
The incident was later reported to Mukuyuni police station by the school principal.
Efforts by KNA to get comments from County Director of Education Lydia Mutegi were fruitless as she was reportedly in a meeting.
