Youths in the semi-arid area of Nyatike Constituency have been encouraged to engage in sports and develop their skills as an alternative means to achieve economic empowerment.
The Founder and Director of Ngoje Foundation, Robley Ngoje, said that it is through sports that youths can showcase their talents to propel them to the county, national, and international stages.
Ngoje, who spoke during a football tournament organised in the semi-arid area of Modi-Nyatike Sub-County, said that his foundation will continue to help and nurture the talents of youths from the less privileged.
“We want to help our youths from this semi-arid area of Nyatike showcase their talents and be scouted by teams playing in the National Super League (NSL) and the Kenya Premier League (KPL),” said Ngoje.
He explained that the sporting spirit will help the youth from the region to believe that where they come from does not matter if they work hard and dedicate their time to accomplish their dreams and vision.
The Director encouraged the youths to embrace sports, saying that football in the country is starting to pay off, making it one of the economic ventures aimed at uplifting the standards of the youths in the country.
“What I have seen today in this football talent is unity and peace a virtue that should be embraced to enhance patriotism in the country,” he said.
The ongoing CHAN 2024, which has seen Harambee Stars qualify for the quarter finals, has not only brought fans to the stadium but also enhanced patriotism among the country’s residents.
Already, two former players from the Migori Youths Football playing in the NSL are playing for the Harambee Star’s that is currently participating in the CHAN 2024, demonstrating a reach footballing talent within the county.
