Ongoing urban roads upgrade in Kerugoya Town

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is currently upgrading roads in Kerugoya town, Kirinyaga County, to bitumen standards, marking a significant improvement in the town’s road infrastructure.

The project aims to enhance mobility within the municipality, which is experiencing rapid population growth and increased business activities. In addition to the roadworks, the project includes the construction of drainage systems to effectively manage rainwater, thereby improving sanitation in the area.

According to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census, Kerugoya has a total population of 39,441, with 14,056 residing in the urban area. The project is a critical component of urban development as it not only facilitates smooth transport but also attracts investors who seek accessible and well-connected environments to establish their businesses.

The Kirinyaga Central NG-CDF office has promised to work with KURA to ensure other roads, especially those used by the workers to access their residential houses within the town, are tarmacked.
