Over 1,200 Kakamega Women groups to get Sh60 Million boost

Over 1,200 women groups across the 60 wards of Kakamega County will benefit from a shillings 60 million allocation under the county’s Women Empowerment Programme.

Area governor Fernandes Barasa said the funds are meant to strengthen livelihoods and boost women-led enterprises at the grassroots.

He said the programme targets small-scale traders and organized groups to enable them expand businesses and increase incomes.

Barasa spoke yesterday in Bungasi, Musanda Ward, Mumias West Sub-County.

He urged beneficiaries to use the funds prudently to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.

Later, the governor toured Bungasi Market and engaged traders and residents on challenges affecting their businesses.

He said the county will continue rolling out targeted support programmes to spur economic growth and empower vulnerable groups.

Barasa noted that women empowerment remains a key pillar in his administration’s development agenda saying investing in women directly improves household incomes and community wellbeing.

The programme is expected to enhance economic participation and uplift thousands of families across Kakamega County.
