Narok peace group has donated a consignment of relief foodstuff to at least 100 needy and old women in Narok town, during a sensitization exercise to the local the communities.
The group led by Narok peace ambassador Joshua Kaputa said the elderly in Majengo and London estates were offered the donations a peace campaign rally in the troubled region, where ethnic undertones were a common occurrence during political seasons.
He said the aim of the team was to spread cohesion and integration messages during this electioneering season, even as the area prepares for a grueling campaign period following the death of Narok Town ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Lukas Kudate.
Kaputa observed that the town was a cosmopolitan area, as it hosts people from different communities, hence the need for cohesion during this campaign season.
“We should all promote peace during this campaign season. Everybody should be reminded that elections come and go, but the people remain. No one should be incited to cause war no matter the love of their candidates,” he said.
He reiterated that development in the ward can only be spurred by people embracing one another, while appreciating diversity in the region.
“We should embrace the brotherhood spirit despite our backgrounds so that we can accommodate everyone to live and do business in our fast-growing town,” he continued.
The Peace group chairlady Grace Wangari said the food donation was an extension of love to the needy people, who could have been forgotten in the society.
“Everybody is important in society no matter their status. We came here to bring a message of hope to the needy and poor in the society,” she said.
The women who benefited from the food thanked the peace organization and asked them to extend their generosity to other parts of the town, where people strived to place a plate of food on the table.
