Plans for Butula Huduma Centre Completed

Construction of a Huduma Centre in Butula Sub County is set to begin soon, Butula Member of Parliament Joseph Oyula has said.

Speaking in Butula, Oyula said the initiative would bring government services closer to local residents.

“We are ready to start the construction of the Huduma Centre so that all the services we have been seeking at the Huduma Centre in Busia will now be available here in Butula,” he said, adding that the area DCC has already identified a location for construction, which will be funded through the NG-CDF.

He said the storey building to be constructed would include an ICT hub that will offer opportunities for youth to learn computer skills.

“We understand there is a problem of unemployment, and ICT is seen as a sector that can offer opportunities for the youth. We will have an ICT hub for our youth to train in ICT and be able to work online,” he said.

The lawmaker criticized the Busia County Government for failing to initiate impactful projects in Butula.

“The county government has failed to implement any projects that benefit our people. We’ve seen them taking credit for projects done by the national government. All the markets constructed in this sub-county, including Bumala Modern Market, are national government projects. We won’t allow our people to be misled by empty rhetoric when county funds are being misused,” he said.

Oyula also said the Kenya Medical Training College in Butula has admitted students and learning has commenced, urging local residents to enroll their children.

“We have 118 students from this sub-county already enrolled at KMTC Butula, and we’re calling on you to send even more. We’re also working to ensure our youth join TVET institutions. So far, 846 of our youth have enrolled in TVETs across Butula Sub County,” he said.

He urged residents to continue supporting and embracing government projects, noting that they would bring development to the area.

“We have seen what the government is doing for us here. My message to everyone is to support all projects initiated for our benefit. Let’s work closely with our leaders for better service delivery,” he said.
