Plexus-Growatt deal to boost renewable energy uptake in Kenya

Plexus Energy has entered into a strategic partnership with global energy firm Growatt to expand access to renewable energy solutions across Kenya and the wider East African region.

The agreement, unveiled during an official launch in Nairobi, designates Plexus Energy as the official distributor of Growatt’s inverters and batteries, a move expected to enhance the availability of solar technologies amid rising demand for clean and affordable energy.

Speaking at the event, Plexus Energy Founder and CEO Edward Kinyanjui described the partnership as a major milestone in advancing sustainable energy adoption.

“The collaboration will strengthen the company’s ability to deliver reliable solar solutions to households, businesses, and institutions,” he said.

Through the arrangement, Plexus Energy will offer tailored solar systems supported by financing options through banks and international financial institutions.

Growatt’s inverters, designed to withstand local climatic conditions, will play a key role in the installations.

Growatt Sales Engineer Peterson Makau said the company’s products are built for the African market, saying, “Their durability and smart monitoring features enhance efficiency and performance.”

The initiative aligns with Kenya’s push toward green energy, supported by government incentives such as tax exemptions on solar equipment.

Plexus Energy also plans to work with county governments to expand access to renewable energy in rural areas.

The launch attracted industry stakeholders, media, and prospective clients, reflecting growing interest in sustainable energy solutions.
