Police attacked at Vihiga County Assembly, gun stolen

A police officer manning Vihiga County Assembly was attacked by unknown assailants in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and robbed of his gun.

In an interview with KNA in his office, Vihiga County Commissioner Peter Maina confirmed that one police officer was indeed attacked in the wee hours of the morning, severely injured and rushed to Kisumu for medical attention.

He confirmed that a gun was stolen during the attack and the county security agents are doing everything possible to repossess the gun and apprehend the criminals.

“A police officer noticed that his colleague was lying on the ground bleeding and therefore raised alarm calling for help,” said Maina.

He assured residents that his team is working on solving the rampant insecurity incidents in Mbale, including tracking down the stolen gun and apprehending the culprits.
