Busia County Police Commander, Ahmed Abdille, has assured the public of free and fair recruitment of police officers in the County.
Speaking at the Busia Stadium during the recruitment exercise, Monday, Abdille said those who qualify will be given an opportunity to serve in the police force.
“We are conducting a free and fair exercise, so that everyone can get an equal opportunity. In Busia Sub-county, we are recruiting 18 youth,” Abdille stated, adding the exercise was being undertaken in all Sub-counties in Busia County
“We are looking at their documents, to ascertain if they are the right ones. We are also looking at their physical fitness and later on, we will be carrying out the medical checkups. We want to ensure that all the requirements have been followed,” he said.
He urged members of public to report any incidence of corruption that they witness.
“I have been interacting with members of the public who are present, to tell them that they should not give any one money for their children to be recruited. If any person witnesses any incidence, just come out and report, so that I can personally intervene because we must ensure everything happens openly, fairly and according to the law,” he said.
At least 10,000 police officers are expected to be recruited during the ongoing countrywide recruitment exercise.
