Ruaka level three hospital equipping progresses

Equipping of the Ruaka Level Three Hospital in Kiambu County is progressing well, paving the way for residents to access comprehensive healthcare services closer to their homes.

The hospital will include a Newborn Unit (NBU), male and female wards, a delivery room, prenatal ward, Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) room, laboratory and radiology unit.

Other facilities being equipped include nursing stations, a triage area, doctors’ rooms and a theatre, among other essential sections.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi said the project was part of his administration’s vision to bring quality and comprehensive healthcare services closer to residents across the county.

Wamatangi said Ruaka Level Three Hospital was among 32 hospitals constructed by the county government over the last three years as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to medical services.

“Devolution is about bringing services closer to the people, and this facility is a clear demonstration of that commitment. We are investing in modern healthcare infrastructure so that residents can access quality services without travelling long distances,” said Wamatangi.

He said equipping the facility with specialized service areas would enable it to handle a wider range of healthcare needs, particularly maternal and child health services.

The Governor noted that the inclusion of a newborn unit, delivery room, prenatal ward and Kangaroo Mother Care room would strengthen maternal and neonatal healthcare services in the area.

He added that the laboratory, radiology unit and theatre would further enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide diagnostic and treatment services under one roof.

Wamatangi said the county government would continue investing in healthcare infrastructure, equipment and human resources to ensure that newly constructed facilities are fully operational and responsive to the needs of residents.

The equipping of the Ruaka facility is expected to ease pressure on existing health facilities in the area while improving access to timely and affordable healthcare services.

The facility, which is part of the county government’s efforts to expand and improve healthcare infrastructure, is being fitted with essential departments and service areas to enhance the quality and range of medical services available to residents.
