The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has encouraged women from Samburu county to vie for elective positions in the upcoming party grassroots elections.
Speaking in Maralal town during a pre-party grassroots election sensitization exercise, national party treasurer Japheth Nyakundi said that the party is committed to promote women’s participation in leadership roles.
Nyakundi emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in shaping the party’s direction and contributing to communal development.
The sensitisation exercise which was coordinated by UDA National Elections Board Member Jimmy Kahindi was held at Maralal Vocational Training Center ahead of the January 10, 2026 polls.
The residents were taken through the electronic voting process.
The party’s Secretary General Hassan Omar said that the aim of the polls is to bring the party to the people adding that UDA is committed to the country development agenda.
Also present were Samburu County governor Lati Lelelit, Woman Representative Pauline Lenguris, Samburu North MP Eli Letipila, Former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal, County Assembly Speaker Stephen Lenamarle among other local elected and nominated leaders.
