Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has urged citizens to exercise patience as local political group Linda Mwananchi finalizes its strategy and communicates its official stance.
During a radio engagement on Vihiga FM, Osotsi reaffirmed his alliance with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, stating his commitment to supporting Sifuna’s push to advance the interests of the Luhya community at the national level. He also clarified that he has no affiliations with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP party, the United Position, or former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The senator, who has declared intention to vie for the Vihiga gubernatorial seat outlined his priorities should he be elected as governor. “My focus will be on improving health services, urban planning, markets, sewage and water infrastructure, and education—areas I have closely engaged with during my tenure as senator,” he said. He further pledged that his efforts to increase sharable revenue for Vihiga County to Sh8 billion would be matched by rigorous oversight of county resources.
Osotsi emphasized that Linda Mwananchi is not intended to compete with ODM but to complement it by addressing gaps where ODM has fallen short. He noted that the group is independently funded, with members contributing for their own rallies.
Following the radio engagement, Osotsi held a public meeting with Vihiga residents, encouraging them to register as voters to safeguard their democratic rights and participate in shaping Kenya’s future. He urged those without National Identification Cards to visit Huduma Centers to apply and register.
In closing, Osotsi called for unity among all Luhya sub-tribes and appealed for continued support in 2027 to further the development of Vihiga County.
