Twenty-three members of staff of Nyandarua county assembly have been sent packing in two months, sending chills down spines of those allied to embattled speaker Ndegwa Wahome.

Kenya News Agency has learnt that those dismissed were accused of among other things, siding with Speaker Ndegwa Wahome who has been facing ouster since late last year.

Terming it as an unfortunate turn of events, Gatimu MCA Kieru Wambui, who was also stripped off membership to the County Assembly Service Board (CASB) said two of the staff were sacked after they posted photos of a bad road in the County, on social media.

“Some of the sacked staff said they were just handed dismissal letter and told to ‘go to court, we shall meet there”.

“The Governor has infiltrated the County assembly so much that it is just dancing to his whims including passing supplementary budget without debate,” said Kieru, who is allied to the embattled speaker.

MCAs allied to Governor Francis Kimemia, have been trying to push out the Speaker Ndegwa through impeachment motions.

Ndegwa termed the sacking as unfortunate saying some of the dismissed staff were still servicing loans.

“They are still paying loans that were guaranteed by their parents using title deeds of family land,” the Speaker said, regretting that the Governor was pushing for the sacking of the youthful staff in the assembly.

Leader of majority in the assembly, Ednald King’ori has filed another impeachment motion against Wahome whom a Nakuru High court allowed to resume work until a case he has filed against earlier impeachment is heard and determined.

In the new motion, King’ori claims some staff allied to Ndegwa were a security risks to MCAs opposing him.
