The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared three candidates for Purko Ward by- election for the Member of County Assembly (MCA).
The three, Amos Mpusia of the United Democratic party (UDA), Simon Sanare of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and Daniel Naikuni of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), will face-off in the by-elections slated for November 27th.
The Purko Member of County Assembly seat fell vacant after the death of Simon Saitoti who died in March 2025, following a short illness.
Speaking after receiving the clearance certificate at the IEBC County Headquarters in Kajiado town, Amos Mpusia of the United Democratic party (UDA), appreciated the party for giving him the chance to vie and exuded confidence that he will clinch the seat.
He said that if duly elected, he will ensure that Purko residents are well represented in the County Assembly in addition to providing oversight.
Simon Sanare of DCP also exuded confidence in clinching the seat and urged Purko residents to elect him so that they can get development like other areas in the county.
Daniel Naikuni of ODM who also served as the area MCA from 2017-2022, urged the electorates to give him another chance to continue his development agenda which was cut short when he was defeated in the 2022 elections.
Ngunjiri Mugo, the Returning Officer for Kajiado Central, noted that five candidates had shown interest to vie for the Purko MCA seat, but only the three showed-up for clearance.
Ngunjiri said that the ongoing nationwide continuous voter registration remains suspended in Kajiado Central Constituency until the By-elections for Purko Ward are held on 27th November 2025.
He apologized for the inconveniences caused and noted that the Commission will communicate once the registration resumes.
Purko Ward has 4,848 registered voters and 12 Polling Stations.
The cleared candidates hit the ground running by holding different campaign rallies across the Ward.
