Two charged with stealing property worth over Sh1.6 million

Two people were Thursday arraigned before a Narok court charged with stealing property worth over Sh1.6 million from their employer.

Edwin Angwenyi Marubi and Brian Kerosi Mogaka appeared before Narok Chief Magistrate Ms. Wilbroda Juma.

They were charged that on diverse dates between April 1 and July 1, 2019 at Esupitai village in Narok South Sub-County, they stole 233, 100Kg bags of maize, 179 pieces of iron sheets and three pieces of canvas, property of George Kengo.

The two were charged with an alternative charge of handling the said stolen property contrary to the law.

One of the suspects, Edwin Angwenyi Marubi, who was under the employment of George Kengo at the moment of the felony as a farmhand told the court he is aged 17 years, a matter which led the court to order that he remains in police custody and be taken for age assessment before his release on bond.

The duo denied the charges and were released on a Sh100, 000 cash bail each ahead of the hearing slated for August 12, 2019.
