UDA candidate withdraws from nomination race

One of the leading United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidates in the forthcoming Baringo senatorial by-election has pulled out of the race barely 24 hours to nomination day.

Reuben Chepsongol, former Bartabwa MCA, has cited election Act requirements governing public officers aspiring for elective political seats as the reason for his pulling out of the race.

Chepsongol who is a director with Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has asked his supporters to back any candidate of their choice during the nomination exercise slated for September 20.

The Baringo senator’s seat fell vacant following the passing on of William Cheptumo in February this year.

The candidates seeking nomination during the UDA party nomination exercise include Wycliffe Tobole, Kiprono Chemitei, Daniel Kiptoo, Sylus Tochim and Isaiah Kirukmet among others.
