The County Government of Vihiga has received a donation of non-pneumatic anti-shock garments from Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) organisation, a major boost in efforts to reduce maternal deaths caused by excessive bleeding during and after childbirth.
The life-saving garments are designed to stabilise expectant mothers experiencing obstetric haemorrhage, preventing complications from escalating and buying critical time before advanced medical care is administered.
Speaking during the handover, Chief Officer for Health Dr. Mary Anyiendah expressed her appreciation to MCGL for their continued partnership with the county. She noted that MCGL has played a vital role in strengthening health systems through mentorship, capacity building, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
This sustained collaboration has delivered remarkable improvements in maternal and newborn health outcomes across Vihiga County, reinforcing the county’s commitment to ensuring safe motherhood and quality healthcare for all.
