Vihiga officials trained on data management

Vihiga officials from the Directorate of Environment, Energy and Natural Resources, have undergone a capacity-building session on data management at the County Geographic Information System (GIS) Laboratory.

The training focused on improving the accuracy and efficiency of environmental data collection, with participants learning best practices in data handling and the use of digital tools such as KOBO.

KoboToolbox is an intuitive, powerful, and reliable software used to collect, analyze, and manage data for surveys, monitoring, evaluation, and research.

Emphasis was placed on data cleaning, accuracy, relevance, and efficiency to ensure the integrity of all datasets collected across the department.

This marks the first departmental training of its kind, aimed at strengthening data quality and promoting evidence-based decision-making in environmental management.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the county government to build staff capacity and leverage technology in promoting sustainable environmental practices.
