Vihiga county government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Telehealth Network to improve access to universal healthcare services in the area.
The County Attorney Aggrey Musiega presided over the agreement that enables increased investment in technology-driven health solutions for underserved communities.
Speaking as he witnessed the signing ceremony, Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Otichillo reiterated his administration’s commitment to the partnership, expressing the county’s eagerness for its immediate implementation.
“We want this MoU implemented as soon as possible. We will make sure that everything is put in place to ensure our people benefit,” said Dr. Otichillo.
Moreover, the governor announced plans to establish community resource centers in marginalized areas, especially hilly and remote areas to enhance access to health services through telehealth innovations.
He also emphasized that the county would leverage solar power solutions to support these facilities in areas with limited access to electricity.
“This initiative will connect our most remote communities to quality healthcare services,” Dr. Otichillo added.
