Grief engulfed Central Kwabwai Location in Ndhiwa Sub-county after a woman octogenarian, was stung to death by bees.
The 70-year-old woman identified as Anastasia Bunde Oyugi, died after being stung by a swarm of bees near Ratanga market.
Central Kwabwai Location Chief, George Olang’o, said the bees were provoked by a tractor that was passing by.
“The tractor produced smoke that agitated the bees before they attacked her. She collapsed and died when some residents were rushing her to a nearby health facility,” Olang’o said.
Speaking to the press, Wednesday, Olang’o called on the residents to remain cautious as they move about in the market.
He said residents tried their best to rescue the granny but she was already overwhelmed.
“Our people must remain vigilant in the market to avoid more harm from the bees. We’re looking for ways of addressing the issues with market officers,” he said.
Ndhiwa Sub-county Police Commander, John Losia, confirmed the incident and told residents to avoid passing near the area.
He said people should not lose life in such a similar situation and asked the residents to remain cautious when using the road.
