Youth inclusivity key to securing the future

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth inclusivity in governance, stressing that involving young people in decision-making was critical to building a strong and sustainable future.

Speaking in Eldoret during the flag-off ceremony for youth participating in the International Youth Day celebrations, Dr. Bii said his government recognizes the youth as the county’s most energetic and innovative segment and was therefore deliberately creating opportunities for them to thrive.

“Our youth are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are leaders of today. Through the Fanikisha Program, we have established a framework that, among other things, offers direct employment opportunities for our young people,” he said.

The governor  noted that beyond employment, the county is running continuous sensitization and training programs aimed at enabling young people to access government procurement opportunities in line with the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) policy.

Dr. Bii further pointed out that sports development remains a strategic focus for his administration, not only as a recreational activity but also as a viable avenue for youth to monetize their talents.

“Sports can be a serious economic driver for our young people. We are investing in facilities, tournaments, and training to ensure talented young people compete at the highest levels,” he said.
