Youth urged to seek online jobs

The youth in Homa Bay County have been challenged to participate in online jobs to alleviate poverty levels in the area.

Arujo location Chief Bob Lango told the youth to use their smart phones for online jobs instead of using them for cybercrime.

The administrator noted that there was an upsurge of social media goons in the county who were hired by politicians to perpetrate hate speech and insults.

Lango said the wayward youth use various social media platforms to post hate speech leading to violence during public gatherings in the county.

He made the remarks today during the official opening of a service center of an online company dubbed RXM in Homa Bay Town. The Company’s Senior Associate John Owiti said one of the center’s objective was guiding the youth to register for the online jobs.

“We have opened a service center where the youth will get guidelines on how to participate in the online jobs available at RXM. This is the seventh service center in Kenya,” Owiti said. He said the jobs will enable the youth to earn a living using their smartphones wherever they are as long as they have registered.

“The RXM jobs allow young people to earn a living wherever they are. Let them register so that they can earn a living.” Owiti said.

Lang’o described the initiative as an economic transformation that will augment the fight against poverty in the area.He argued that proper use of the online jobs will reduce unemployment in the area significantly.

“Many jobs are nowadays available online. Let young people make use their smartphones to join this initiative to improve their livelihoods,” Lang’o said.

Youth who are participating in the RXM jobs said the opportunity had cushioned them from economic hardships.

Brian Onyango, a student at Tom Mboya University, said the RXM jobs had made him financially independent.

“I joined the RXM last year and today, I can pay my bills and part of my school fees with the money I earn. I tell my fellow youth that online jobs are the way to go.” Onyango said.

Another beneficiary Mildred Atieno said the online jobs addressed idleness amongst the youth.

“I am one of the youth whose online jobs at RXM have changed their lives. The online jobs also do not bar me from other engagements.” Atieno said.
