The National Government has formally advertised several vacant positions for chiefs and their assistants as part of efforts to operationalize newly gazetted administrative units in Kisumu County.
In Nyakach Sub-County, three positions have been announced, including one Assistant Chief for Ogoro Sub-location and two Chief positions for South West Nyakach location and Bar location.
“Applicants are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Chief II in the following locations and sub-locations within Nyakach Sub-County,” read a notice signed by Nyakach Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Job Anunda.
Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor stated that the move is part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen governance and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
The legislator added that he was working closely with the Ministry of Interior and National Administration to ensure the full operationalization of the remaining Onyuongo and Buru sub-locations.
“In addition, we have initiated further requests for the establishment and consideration of additional administrative units to better serve our communities. We remain committed to bringing services closer to the people and improving administrative efficiency across Nyakach,” Owuor said.
Through a gazette notice issued on November 22, 2024, the government established Upper Nyakach division, Bar location, and three sub-locations – Ogoro, Buru, and Onyuongo – in Nyakach Sub-County.
In Muhoroni Constituency, the government has already deployed Deputy County Commissioner Beatrice Bikeyo to the newly gazetted North East Kano Sub-County, headquartered in Masogo within Nyangoma/Masogo Ward.
Additionally, more vacancies have been advertised to fill various positions in the new administrative units within Muhoroni. These include two Chief roles for Sidho East location and Ombeyi South location, as well as two assistant chief positions for Kore East and Wangowe sub-locations. Qualified residents have been urged to submit their applications by April 17
.Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo emphasized that the milestone marks a significant step toward strengthening grassroots governance and bringing essential government services closer to the people.
“It reflects a strong commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and efficient service delivery across the constituency. The creation of these units not only enhances administration but also creates new employment opportunities,” Koyoo said.
He encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity by applying for the advertised positions.
