Kajiado County is celebrating a remarkable moment for women in gaming after 50-year-old Caroline Mmbone, a mother of six, emerged as one of the winners of the SportPesa Midweek Jackpot
Caroline secured a life-changing prize of Sh 9.5 million, alongside fellow winners Stanley Kiptoo and Joseph Lagho, who each walked away with the same amount.
A businesswoman who specializes in making school uniforms and shoes, Caroline’s journey into gaming began at home.
Curious about how her five sons were earning small amounts through betting, she asked them to teach her.
What started as simple curiosity soon turned into a weekly family routine, with the household consistently placing Midweek or Mega Jackpot bets together.
Despite not winning for a long time, Caroline remained persistent. Her determination paid off last week when she decided to place a bet on her own without the usual analysis she conducted with her sons. That spontaneous decision led to her biggest breakthrough.
“I couldn’t believe what I saw in my account,” she said.
Overwhelmed with excitement, Caroline immediately woke one of her sons.
The news quickly spread through the family, prompting early morning calls to her other children.
By 4 a.m., the entire family had gathered, initially in disbelief but soon overcome with joy after confirming the balance in her SportPesa wallet.
The celebration continued after they decided to call Sportpesa customer service and they verified that indeed she was among the Midweek Jackpot winners.
Caroline mentioned that her husband is a key pillar of support throughout her gaming journey.
“My husband has always supported me, even helping with analysis at times. This is truly a family win,” she said.
Looking ahead, Caroline plans to invest her winnings wisely. Her priorities include purchasing land in Kajiado and building a family home, as well as expanding her business.
She noted that owning a home will ease the burden of rent and allow her to focus on growing her businesses.
She also encouraged young people to engage in responsible gaming. “Bet responsibly and regulate how much time and money you dedicate to gaming. There are opportunities, but discipline is key,” she advised.
Meanwhile, the SportPesa Mega Jackpot is set to kick off on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 19:30, with a jackpot standing at Sh 120,501,971. It gives hefty cash prizes from 12 correct predictions.
