In a strategic move aimed at streamlining devolved operations, Vihiga County has embarked on a training program to sensitize its officials on best practices, so as to to optimize public service delivery.
The training, whose closing session was presided over by the Vihiga County Women Representative Beatrice Adagala at a local hotel, targeted officials from Western Region Constituencies and county office managers.
Adagala said the training program was organized by the National Assembly Liaison office specifically focusing to erase the inefficiencies in local administration.
She highlighted the key areas of training targeting operational efficiency to ensure daily office management were optimized to minimize delays in citizen requests.
The women representative further stated the thematic areas including inter – office coordination, aimed at fostering seamless communication networks between regional Constituency offices and national assembly structures.
The training also focused on procurement procedures, with a view to intensifying legal public procurement framework to ensure transparency, compliance and discipline in utilization of public funds.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Adagala lauded the office managers for their dedication throughout the rigorous training period emphasizing that the strength of any leadership team relies heavily on the competence of its technical and administrative staff.
“Strong institutions and well-equipped offices are key to ensuring effective representation and better service to our people, and as leaders from Vihiga County, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen governance, accountability and efficient delivery of services across our region,” she stated.
Vihiga Member of Parliament, Ernest Kagesi, in his contribution echoed the same sentiments noting that empowering the personnel who handle day to day public interactions, directly translates into a more satisfied electorate and a more transparent administration.
Upon conclusion of the training, residents of Vihiga County will be looking forward to a noticeable change towards transparent and accountable service delivery in their respective Constituency offices.
