President William Ruto’s state of the Nation address on Thursday has ignited a range of reactions among leaders in Vihiga County. While some lauded the president for championing development projects in the region, others raised concerns and highlighted areas they felt were lacking in the speech.
Vihiga County Governor Dr Wilber Otichillo commended President William Ruto for the progress made in Vihiga, including the construction of Kidundu Stadium, Luanda Modern Market, and the affordable housing initiatives. These projects showcase the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Vihiga residents.
Luanda MP Hon. Omboko Milemba and Sabatia MP Hon. Clement Sloya also praised the president for his dedication to the nation. Milemba noted the positive changes in education reforms and the employment of teachers, highlighting the impact on the community.
However, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi pointed out that the president did not observe a minute of silence in parliament for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. While Osotsi’s concern may have stirred debate, it was not seen as a major issue by many in the political landscape and the public.
President Ruto’s reaffirmation of his vision to elevate Kenya to a first-world status resonated strongly in his address, demonstrating his ambitious goals for the country’s future.
The diverse reactions from Vihiga’s leaders reflect the complex perspectives shaping the national dialogue on development and governance.
