Women in Ilima Ward urged to utilize money to improve their families

The Principal Secretary (PS) for Aviation,  Aerospace and Development, Teresia Mbaika, has challenged women in Ilima Ward in Kilungu Subcounty to utilize the funds they receive through government empowerment programmes to initiate and expand their businesses to uplift their living standards.

While underscoring that women are the drivers of economic growth and sustainable development, Mbaika said that besides increasing household incomes, the money can also help in making women economically self-reliant, hence securing better future for their families.

“I encourage the beneficiaries to view the government’s empowerment funds as seed capital that will help them start or expand businesses, increase household incomes, create employment opportunities and secure a better future of their families,” said Mbaika during an Empowerment Programme Forum at Akatch Stadium at Kyambeke Market in Kilungu Subcounty on Sunday.

“The true value of this support lies not in the amount received today, but in how it is invested to transform lives, strengthen businesses and build lasting prosperity,” she added.

In this regard, the PS reaffirmed her commitment to work closely with Kenya Kwanza Administration to ensure the fruits of development trickle to the area through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

While adding that the tarmacking of Kyambeke-Kiko road is almost complete, Mbaika disclosed that President William Ruto will soon come to launch the tarmacking of Kyambeke-Kyuasini-Ukia junction road with a view of enabling farmers transport their farm produce to markets without being stuck on the muddy sections.

“We will continue to invest in quality roads, education, clean water, electricity, healthcare and other essential services that will improve livelihoods and unlock economic opportunities,” Mbaika posed.

“Sustainable development can only be realized through a strong partnership between the Government and the people. As I continue serving in Government, I remain steadfast in my commitment to ensuring that every citizen benefits from government programmes and development initiatives, leaving no community behind,” the PS observed.

In this regard, she urged the residents of Kaiti Constituency to support the Kenya Kwanza administration especially in the coming general elections, noting that such a move would accelerate development in the region.

Also, Mbaika rallied residents to support President Ruto for a second term, saying his administration had continued to initiate empowerment programmes targeting women, boda boda operators and other groups across the country.

The empowerment forum brought together women from across Ilima Ward, with leaders urging residents to support government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities in the constituency.

Speaking at the same event, Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Mwengi Mutuse warned the residents against embracing tribal leaders and instead encouraged them to support leaders who are development cautious and fight to improve their lives.
