Kericho Woman Representative aspirant Vicky Bati has reaffirmed her commitment to championing women empowerment and supporting grassroots development initiatives, saying investing in women is key to accelerating social and economic transformation in the county.
Bati spoke during an engagement with grassroots women’s groups in Kericho town where she held discussions with participants on challenges affecting women and explored strategies for strengthening economic empowerment, leadership and community development.
She said the meeting underscored the importance of listening to the concerns of ordinary wananchi and working closely with communities to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
“As I continue pursuing my ambition to serve as the next Woman Representative for Kericho County in 2027, I remain committed to championing women empowerment, supporting grassroots initiatives and creating opportunities that enable women to become more self-reliant,” she said.
Bati noted that women play a critical role in driving economic growth and improving household welfare, adding that strengthening women’s capacity through access to economic opportunities and skills development would contribute significantly to the county’s development.
She observed that grassroots women remain the backbone of many families and communities, calling for greater collaboration among leaders, development partners and community organisations to support initiatives that improve livelihoods and promote financial independence.
The Woman Representative aspirant further emphasised the need to encourage women’s participation in leadership and decision-making processes, saying inclusive governance is essential for equitable development.
Bati has remained active in grassroots mobilization across Kericho County through community outreach programmes focusing on women’s empowerment, youth development and social welfare. She has consistently advocated increased support for women’s groups through capacity building, entrepreneurship, table banking initiatives and income-generating projects aimed at improving household incomes.
A native of Kisiara Ward in Bureti Constituency, Bati previously contested for the Kericho Woman Representative seat and has continued to engage residents through community forums and empowerment initiatives as she prepares for the 2027 General Election.
She reiterated her commitment to working with women, youth and other stakeholders to promote inclusive development and create opportunities that will enable families to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the county’s socio-economic improvement and sustenance.
