Man found guilty of threatening to kill mother

By P, KNA

A Siaya court has found a man who chased his mother with a panga guilty of threatening to kill contrary to the penal code.

Jack Ouma Oduor who hails from Central Alego location, who appeared before principal magistrate, Benjamin Limo is now awaiting sentencing after being convicted by the court.

He was charged that on 1st March, 2025 at around 8.30 pm, he arrived home, while armed with a panga and chased her mother, boasting that he will kill her and nothing would be done to him.

The court was told that the mother was forced to run for her life and sought refuge at the home of a neighbour, one Christine Adhiambo.

A witness, Pamela Adipo told the court that on the material day, she was at the complainant’s home when the accused came in while holding a panga and told the complainant that “I will kill you today”.

Adipo said she asked the accused why she was doing that but instead of answering, Ouma kicked her mother, forcing her to hurriedly leave for her home.

The complainant, she added, later went to her home seeking help.

The witness said that the following morning, she saw the accused chasing her mother again, while armed with a panga, forcing the mother to seek refuge at the home of a neighbour, Christine Adhiambo.

The Magistrate said the testimony of the prosecution witnesses were credible, corroborated and reliable.

“I have also evaluated the defence placed before court. The defence fails short of merit and substance and accordingly dismissed,” ruled the Principal Magistrate, adding that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Ouma was hauled to Siaya GK prisons to await sentencing.
